Industry breakout session

ChatGPT and other LLMs: should
we celebrate or be afraid of
these technologies?

For decades, the need for and use of AI has prevailed in
scholarly publishing to produce high-quality content with
greater efficiency and scale. ChatGPT, as a generative AI
model, is significantly different from its predecessors and
has stormed into the arena with the potential to disrupt
the conventional landscape.

In addition to ChatGPT, other LLMs
(Large Language Models), such as
Google's Bard and Facebook's
LLaMA are also challenging existing
business models.

Everyone is looking at these developments with a mixture of
optimism and skepticism. Scholarly publishers and industry
service providers are assessing possibilities to learn how
these recent developments might impact the ecosystem.
While there are apparent opportunities, these developments
also pose serious risks and threats that must be understood
while exploring such technologies.

TNQ Technologies has also been exploring multiple LLMs to
understand the technology and its implications. In this session,
we will present our understanding as a SWOT analysis of LLMs in
general, and more specifically, their potential impact on our
industry. This will be an interactive session where we will also
collectively discuss the views and experiences of the audience.
